Making Lingerie

Lace panty

Fabrics Suitable for Panties

Stretch Fabric

Single & double knitted fabric, nylon- or cotton lycra and stretch lace are examples of fabric used for panties.
Cotton Lycra: Two way stretch – ideal for panties.  When using nylon lycra for panties it is essential to use cotton lycra or t-shirting for the gusset.
T-Shirting: One way stretch.  You can get it in a single or double knitted fabric.
Panty Lycra: A very soft two way stretch material ideal for panties and g-strings – it feels like a second skin.
Printed lycra: One or two way stretch – to match your bra!
Stretch Lace: The width of stretch lace elastic can vary from 3cm – 22cm with scalloped edges both sides.
Stretch lace – normally 150cm - 200cm wide – without scalloped edges.
Elastic: Elastics are available in various widths, types and colours.
Knitted Elastic: Knitted elastic is a rubber core covered in a nylon yarn and provides strength and stretch, and mainly used when making panties with stretch fabrics.
Waist Elastic: Waist elastic can be either woven or knitted.  The width varies from 1.5cm -5cm.
Leg Elastic: Leg elastic width varies from 6mm – 1 cm.
It can be woven or knitted.
Lip or fold over elastic: This is a woven elastic with a marked fold line in the centre.  The width varies from 1cm – 1.5cm.  Fold over elastic is available in cotton to give a natural finish and trilobal which is shiny.
Decorative elastic: Mainly used around the waist of panties.
Encased elastic:
(in a casing)
Knitted – whenever you need an elastic and you don’t have a matching colour, use encased elastic.  These elastics can be used for the waists and legs.  The width varies from 1cm to 1.5cm.

Once you have made yourself a nice lace bra(refer our Lace Bra Project) , you need a lace panty to match.  Follow these easy steps and instructions and make your own panty!!
